Page 1 of 6 If you've never had the opportunity to experience a Sheltered Reality performance, it's not easy to find words to convey what you're missing out on. If you've had the opportunity but for some reason decided not to attend--maybe because you thought it would be too loud, or it wasn't something you'd like--think again. With members across the country, ranging in age from 3 1/2 to 77, SR provides a program with a special message delived in a most unique way, that's guaranteed to reach everyone in attendence. They also hand out ear plugs free of charge at each and every performance! Music With MeaningSheltered Reality (SR) employs the power of music to engage and motivate audiences to make positive changes both in themselves and the world they live in. Through stories of hardship and triumph, and a sequence of Steps of Success (see below) SR teaches personal empowerment and character building, and then encourages the application of these abilities to its primary focus of advocacy for youth in crisis. SR’s choreographed drumming provides fun and invigorating entertainment. However, there is a deeper purpose to their presentations. Music is a universal language and SR uses this opening to speak to the hearts of audiences by way of personal stories and letters. These are not words about strangers, but of members of one human family, people that have displayed courage, commitment, and genuine concern for the welfare of others, even under trial. This process is meant to inspire all to not only become better individuals, but to take action to help others succeed in life as well. We all do have the power to make changes and to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors, and thus in the world around us. This message is what gives true Meaning to our Music.
