The weekly offering is our response to God's call after prayerfully considering our blessings, the work of St. John's UCC, and how we will participate in God's activity in the world. So many times when visitors come to a new church for the first time, the Offering becomes a moment of discomfort for them. We want our visitors to feel comfortable and welcomed here at St. John's. To that end the following message is presented every week at our service: To Our Visitors: You are our guests. Although we welcome your joyful participation in the offertory, we certainly do not want you to feel obligated to do so on short notice. If you have questions about the ministries we support, please see the Pastor. May your time with us be a blessing to you.
We never want anyone to feel pressured into participating in our Offering. When and if you should decide to participate, as with all the other aspects of the life at this church, the option is open to you. Either way, the pleasure of having you join us here at St. John's is heartfelt. |
