We're So Excited about our Sunday School curriculum based on the Workshop Rotation Model. The kids love the program, the teachers are estatic!

We learn about the Bible stories with art, making musical instruments, video—watching and making them—cooking (you’ll remember the creation stories every time you eat “mud cake” at a potluck)—singing songs and learning sign language—through science experiments—games—story telling—dressing up like the characters in the story—decorating the church—painting murals—making posters—doing service projects—learning how to help people feel welcome in church—and lots more!

We remember the stories because we’ve heard them, acted them out, related them to the things we eat, the way we dress, games and puzzles and the fun we have every day. Who knew cleaning up after the dog would remind us of a Bible story? Or blowing across a soda bottle would remind us of God’s breath at creation? Or goldfish crackers would remind us of Jonah and how we have to listen to what God wants us to do?

We invite you to come join us as we discuss our faith within a curriculum which is geared toward being both informative and stimulating—wear clothes that can get paint on them or bring a smock—and be ready for anything!!

The 2010 Line-up

The first unit of study in this year's Sunday School Rotation Workshop will be Jesus the Storyteller. This rotation begins on January 10, 2010 and runs through Easter (April 4).

The second and final unit of study this year will be The Road to Emmaus. This unit begins on April 11, will and be finished on May 23, 2010.

Workshops will include Story telling, Food & People, Fun & Games, Brain Teasers, Community Life, Time Out, Hands On, Show & Tell, and Music Making. The children do seem to enjoy the activities and remember the stories they've learned–just ask one of them who Jonah was, from two years ago! They especially liked the part about the whale barfing!

Adults are needed to volunteer as workshop leaders!

Children are needed to attend and participate in all of the exciting activities that are planned. Sunday School will begin at 9 am, with a Gathering Time. Workshops will last approximately forty minutes, and end with the gathering time that leads to church.

2009 in Review

Activities throughout 2009 centered on making music, fun and games, food and people, storytelling, community life, time out, hands on, and show and tell. Our Sunday School offerings were donated to Sheltered Reality and the Good Samaritan Fund.

To celebrate the birth of Jesus, Sunday School “adopted” two children from KinderCottage, and enjoyed a field trip to Dollar General to purchase gifts for the three and four year old boys. What a tremendous learning experience for our children, as they thought about and figured out what to buy for kids they don’t know! They also learned that they CAN wrap Christmas gifts, and that wrapping doesn’t have to be perfect!
